No matter what time of year you visit, southern Wyoming has plenty of outdoor terrain to explore. The combination of mountains, rivers, lakes and streams create great opportunities for fishing, hiking, mountain biking, riding ORVs, camping, picnicking, rock climbing, big game hunting, snowmobiling, skiing and wildlife viewing. Many areas are lightly visited, making it possible to explore dense forest areas and fish for hours without seeing another soul.

There are three major areas within southern Wyoming where all the major attractions are found: the Snowy Range, the Sierra Madre Mountain Range,and the Upper North Platte River Valley. Most will be located along the Snowy Range Scenic Byway, which is Wyoming's second highest pass. Threading it's way over 10,800 feet, this route showcases some of the most breathtaking and easily accessible peaks in the Rocky Mountains.
